Net

    The squares at least
    don’t remain squares
    and taut
    linking loops
    Threadbare
    wet-looking
    ropes
    Knotted
    trapped and trembling
    lie in thirst
    The sea at large
    lusting
    to drink in measures
    Through the loops
    drainscapes
    the sea
    Sardines, anchovies and seer
    From the infinite
    indefinite
    water bodies
    To the freedom attained
    through assured bondage
    of a definite ending
    For
    the fishes
    in waiting
    the
    net’s
    a mirror
    through which
    they swim
    to another world.
